Hi, I’m Keith with Solutions Pest and Lawn. In this video, we’ll talk about this product,
we are going to cover what it is, what its used for, drawbacks of this chemical, how
to get started, where and when to apply. Solutions Pest and Lawn is a small family
owned business that relies on people like you to succeed. Our goal is to teach you how to treat your
pest problems. If you have any questions, after watching
this video, please email, call, or visit one of our stores and we can help you out. Bifen LP is a bifenthrin granular insecticide. This product is a pyrethroid that works by
interfering with the insect’s nervous system. Bifen controls many different species of insects,
but we typically recommend it primarily for outdoor use to control ants, chinch bugs,
and fleas. Bifen LP has a long residual effect because
the chemical seeps down into the soil. Due to this, anything that displaces the soil,
like flooding, will remove the product from the soil and you will need to reapply. Bifen will not stick to foliage, or elevated
areas. This product needs to sink into the soil to
be effective, so elevated areas with high amounts of runoff or erosion will render the
chemicals ineffective. Bifen also needs moisture to activate, so
dry locations need to be watered or irrigated regularly or the product will be less effective. If these concern you, check out Reclaim I/T
Liquid concentrate. Use Reclaim to create a lethal and repelling
barrier around your home, or treat cracks and crevices to keep pests out. Reclaim has a long lasting residual effect,
and treats similar pests. Before using Bifen, be sure to wear proper
personal protective equipment, or PPE. Bifen works best when you mow your lawn before
application, so that the granules are as close to ground level as possible. Bifen comes ready to use, no mixing required. Pour the product into a push granule spreader
or a hand spreader and you’re ready to apply. Bifen LP can be used outdoors as a barrier
treatment around structures, or as a general broadcast on your lawn. Apply Bifen at a rate of 1.15 to 4.6 pounds
per 1,000 square feet, depending on your targeted pest. Apply Bifen in a similar pattern as you would
mow your lawn, ensuring complete coverage. Once the product has been distributed evenly,
water your lawn with half an inch of water to activate the product. If the ground is dry it may be necessary to
water the area before and after application. Do not walk over the treated area until its
dry. Bifen needs to watered in order for the product
to activate, but if rain is in the forecast it may not be necessary to water as the rain
will activate the product for you. Bifen LP has a residual of up to 3 months. We recommend applying quarterly for continual
control. Bifen is not an instant kill – It can take
a few hours to kill the insect after coming into contact with the chemical. Most active infestations cannot be controlled
through the use of one product. Typically, you’ll also need a liquid concentrate,
an insect growth regulator, and bait or dust for complete control. For each insect, we have come up with treatment
methods that we guarantee 100% to work. Click the card on the top right to get more
