On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Craig
Morrell. I’m with Landscape Restorations in Miami, Florida. We’re here at Palm Hammock
Orchid Estate and we’re talking about planting, and fertilizing. The title of this video clip
is selecting a plant that has the stoutest trunk that you can get. So when you’re at
the nursery when you’re about to pick out plants or when they’re having them delivered
to your property, take a look and try to select the shortest bushiest plant you can with the
stoutest trunk possible. Now here in these two bridal veil plumerias, there’s a difference.
This trunk is noticeably thicker than this one. This one will have a stronger room system
and it’ll grow to be a stronger plant. So in just about every plant, whether it’s a
tree or a shrub or even some of the flowering annuals, try to select the strongest stem
that you can. You’ll get a better plant out of it in the long term. The idea is if you
have a good plant at the get go, right out the beginning and you choose the stoutest
plants that you can, you’ll end up with better success and a stronger plant that will be
more resistant to storms, diseases, and will give you the best possible flowering for your
dollar. So choose the strongest stem that you can right at the beginning. It shouldn’t
cost anymore money.
