HOWARD: HAWAII IS NOW THE FIRST STATE IN THE NATION TO BAN PESTICIDES CONTAINING A CHEMICAL THAT’S BEEN LINKED TO DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND LEARNING DISABILITIES IN CHILDREN. LAWMAKERS PASSED THE MEASURE IN APRIL..WHICH ALSO RESTRICTS PESTICIDE USE NEAR SCHOOLS AND EXPANDS OUTREACH FOR THE PROPER USE OF PESTICIDES. REP CHRIS LEE, ENERGY COMMITTEE CHAIR: it’s something which has been found to obviously have direct impacts when in contact, especially with kids leading to developmental disabilities..all kinds of other issues over the long term which must be addressed, and so for us this is i think a HOWARD: JANUARY 1 OF NEXT YEAR.
