RIGHT NOW.>>WITH THE FOOD WE HAD ON BOARD HERE, THERE’S THE NUTRITIONAL ASPECT OF IT BUT ALSO THERE’S A PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECT ABOUT HAVING SOMETHING ELSE THAT’S LIVING THAT WE CAN TAKE CARE OF, THAT WE CAN SEE GROW AND THAT WE CAN UTILIZE LATER AS FOOD.>>THE CREW LOVES TO WORK ON MANY EXPERIMENTS AS THEY CAN AND THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE UP THERE TO DO. WE’RE TRYING TO ADVANCE SCIENCE SO WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE MOON AND MARS. SO WHAT WE TRY TO DO WITH THIS EXPERIMENT IS TRY TO CONTROL EVERYTHING FROM THE GROUND. THE FARMER IS THE ONE THAT WILL CONTROL ALL OF OUR SUBSYSTEMS. IT WILL HELP US WATER OUR PLANTS. IT WILL HELP US CONTROL TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY. IT WILL HELP US HAVE THE LIGHTING THAT WE WANT AND IT ALSO HELPS US CONTROL THE ATMOSPHERE; LIKE THE CO2, THE CARBON DIOXIDE OR THE OXYGEN. WE HAVE OVER 180 SENSORS IN THE SYSTEM, SO WHAT WE DO IS MONITOR EVERY SYSTEM WHETHER IT’S POWER OR WHETHER IT’S COMMUNICATING CORRECTLY, FOR US TO MONITOR AND UNDERSTAND HOW THE PAYLOAD IS WORKING. IT ALLOWS US TO ZONE IN AND UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT EACH PLANT NEEDS, SO WHEN WE GO OUT THERE WE MAXIMIZE OUR RESOURCES AND GET THE MOST PRODUCTION OUT OF IT. THE KEY THING THAT’S GOING TO BE EXCITING FOR THEM IS, WE CAN ACTUALLY GROW LARGE PLANTS. SO, THEY’VE ALWAYS WORKED WITH SMALLER PLANTS, BUT FROM HERE, WE CAN ACTUALLY PLANT FROM A SEED AND WE CAN GROW TO A SEED.
